progress?

Knee has been feeling a little better, and although I've been swimming rather regularly, I haven't been quantifying it in any way. I still feel stiff and clumsy sometimes, and there's the occasional unexpected horrible crack.

I suspect a misaligned kneecap - the clicking when I bend and straighten sounds like a sublaxation. It sounds like I have atraumatic instability (though I have banged my knee a few times, it wasn't very hard.
Patellar instability is more commen in women than in men, and is made worse, of course, by impact sports.
It's also made worse by having "loose joints", which sounds like my childhood problem.

The joint has been popping less, it feels like, but again, I haven't quantified it.
Also, sometimes it feels like it will be about to pop, but it will stop. I think this is a good sign.

Today's workout:
Swimming.
10 laps of kickboard kicking (there and back is one lap.)
4 laps of breaststroke
5 minutes of continuously treading water
7 x 7 + 1 = 50 pool dips
Two times "power-walking" in the shallow end
Pilates and isometric based cool-down and stretch out.

6/30/09

Got up at six thirty to train today. Let's see how much I really want this. It felt pretty good, though it wasn't very long, just some conditioning.
I was doing some balance on a little plastic edge, blind, and felt my upper body swinging back and forth to compensate. Then I thought about moving my qi into my feet. I don't think it was so much my qi as my conciousness, though. It seemed to do much better, though, almost as if I had lowered my center of gravity.

6/13/09

Wow, it's almost halfway through June? When did this happen?
My job has started, and it's keeping me busy. I'm not training as much as I would like, but that always seems to be the story. I am taking amall steps, though, and really, that's all that matters. In a very reflective mood right now. Maybe I'll write something later.

6/3/09

Pretty good day. I didn't practice my Qigong this morning, because I had to wake up early (7) for an appointment. I think that in itself did some good, though, because I am not tired like I thought I would be, I am quite energized. I felt kind of sluggish earlier in the day, but that seems to have gone.

Let's look at my goals:
- Finish Vault box How-to write up by today (Not done. However, I've been applying my energies elsewhere.)
- Finish Beginner's Jam Vid by Sunday
- Finish FAQ by Sunday (I have to figure out how to put it in a google doc...)

Here's the vid!

I had a pretty good time playing around on my vault box outside, too.
Got lazy vaults on both sides. Then my brother and I played some tag. I tried a dive roll through the swing, and got the chain caught on my ankle. It's all pretty and bloody. I seem to be making some headway against the sugar addiction, too, which I'm really excited about.

Moar goals:
- Finish both text docs by Sunday
- Throw an awesome beginner's workshop on Saturday!
